Now let's look at meaning and functions of facebook, twitter and instagram.

       What is Twitter?

Twitter is a social network and real-time communication service launched in 2006 and used by millions of people and organizations to quickly share and discover information. The word Twitter comes from the frequent chirping sound made by birds, hence the bird used in the Twitter logo. Users can access the site via the web and mobile devices to exchange frequent bite-size updates of information called 'tweets' which are messages of up to 140 characters long that anyone can send or read. These messages or tweets are public by default and visible to all those who are following the tweeter. Twitter allows you to follow other users you are interested in so that you'll see their updates on your home page, which is an aggregate feed of all the accounts you’re following. Users share these tweets which are micro-bits of information that can contain things like photos, videos, quotes, article links and more. Each tweet can also have replies from other people creating real-time conversations around hot topics, breaking news and interesting new content. Twitter was able to disrupt traditional point-to-point messaging systems like email by providing this one-to-many interface for rapid content delivery and search. But Twitter has evolved from more than just a real-time communication tool into one of the world's leading sources of social discovery and newsworthy events. This open networking environment has also led to an entire ecosystem built around the Twitter platform coined the 'Twitterverse' where creative people, designers, marketers and businesses can flourish together.

     History of Twitter
Twitter originally started off as a Podcasting company called Odeo before pivoting into the microblogging service we know and love today. If it wasn't for Apple releasing podcasts via iTunes and scaring Odeo out the water, we might of never got Twitter!
   Twitter Terminology
The key to navigating Twitter is to master the lingo. The Twitterverse has it's own set of vocabulary you'll be sure to see flying around in tweets.

  • Retweet
A tweet that has been reshared to all of a users' followers.
  • Hashtag

  • Mention

  • Handle
This designates your username and accompanying URL at http://twitter.com/handle.
  • Feed
The stream of tweets on your Twitter homepage comprised of all the accounts you follow.
  • Lists
Twitter provides a mechanism to list users you follow into groups or curated lists showing tweets of all the users in the list.
  • Direct Message
Also called a DM, this represents Twitter's direct messaging system for private communication amongst users.
Logo
Twitter has become internationally identifiable by its signature bird logo. The original logo was in use from its launch in March 2006 until September 2010. A slightly modified version succeeded the first style when the website underwent its first redesign.
On February 27, 2012, a tweet from an employee that works on the company's platform and API discussed the evolution of the "Larry the Bird" logo with Twitter's creative director and it was revealed that it was named after Larry Bird of the NBA's Boston Celtics fame. This detail had previously been confirmed when the Boston Celtics' director of interactive media asked Twitter co-founder Biz Stone about it in August 2011.

On June 5, 2012, Twitter unveiled its third logo redesign, replacing Larry the Bird with an updated icon simply named as the "Twitter Bird." As of this logo revision, the word "Twitter" and the lowercase letter "t" are no longer used, with the bird becoming the sole symbol for the company's branding. According to Douglas Bowman, designer of Twitter, the new logo resembles a Mountain Bluebird.

                                                   FACEBOOK

Facebook is an online social networking service, whose name stems from the colloquial name for the book given to students at the start of the academic year by some university administrations in the United States to help students get to know each other. It was founded in February 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg with his college roommates and fellow Harvard University students Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes. Mark Zuckerberg co-created Facebook in his Harvard dorm room. Mark Zuckerberg wrote Facemash, the predecessor to Facebook, on October 28, 2003, while attending Harvard as a sophomore. According to The Harvard Crimson, the site was comparable to Hot or Not, and "used photos compiled from the online facebooks of nine houses, placing two next to each other at a time and asking users to choose the 'hotter' person"
To accomplish this, Zuckerberg hacked into the protected areas of Harvard's computer network and copied the houses' private dormitory ID images. Harvard at that time did not have a student "facebook" (a directory with photos and basic information), though individual houses had been issuing their own paper facebooks since the mid-1980s. Facemash attracted 450 visitors and 22,000 photo-views in its first four hours online.
Initially membership was restricted to students of Harvard College, and within the first month, more than half the undergraduate population at Harvard was registered on the service. Eduardo Saverin (business aspects), Dustin Moskovitz (programmer), Andrew McCollum (graphic artist), and Chris Hughes soon joined Zuckerberg to help promote the website. In March 2004, Facebook expanded to Stanford, Columbia, and Yale. It soon opened to the other Ivy League schools, Boston University, New York University, MIT, and gradually most universities in Canada and the United States.
In mid-2004, entrepreneur Sean Parker, who had been informally advising Zuckerberg, became the company's president. In June 2004, Facebook moved its base of operations to Palo Alto, California. It received its first investment later that month from PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel. The company dropped The from its name after purchasing the domain name facebook.com in 2005 for $200,000.
Facebook has a lot of facilities. For example; users can create profiles with photos, lists of personal interests, contact information, and other personal information. Users can communicate with friends and other users through private or public messages and a chat feature. They can also create and join interest groups and "like pages" (called "fan pages" until April 19, 2010), some of which are maintained by organizations as a means of advertising. Facebook has been prompted to add a "third gender", "other", or "intersex" tab in the gender option which contains only male and female. Facebook refused and said that individuals can "opt out of showing their sex on their profile". A 2012 Pew Internet and American Life study identified that between 20–30% of Facebook users are "power users" who frequently link, poke, post and tag themselves and others. The user page is set up in a minimal fashion with blue as the main color. This was done because Zuckerberg is red-green colorblind. The media often compares Facebook to Myspace, but one significant difference between the two Web sites is the level of customization.
After a while, On September 6, 2006, a News feed was announced, which appears on every user's homepage and highlights information including profile changes, upcoming events, and birthdays of the user's friends. This enabled spammers and other users to manipulate these features by creating illegitimate events or posting fake birthdays to attract attention to their profile or cause. Initially, the News Feed caused dissatisfaction among Facebook users; some complained it was too cluttered and full of undesired information, others were concerned that it made it too easy for others to track individual activities (such as relationship status changes, events, and conversations with other users).
One of the most popular applications on Facebook is the Photos application, where users can upload albums and photos. Facebook allows users to upload an unlimited number of photos, compared with other image hosting services such as Photobucket and Flickr, which apply limits to the number of photos that a user is allowed to upload. During the first years, Facebook users were limited to 60 photos per album. As of May 2009, this limit has been increased to 200 photos per album.
There is another important subject which is privacy settings. Privacy settings can be set for individual albums, limiting the groups of users that can see an album. For example, the privacy of an album can be set so that only the user's friends can see the album, while the privacy of another album can be set so that all Facebook users can see it. Another feature of the Photos application is the ability to "tag", or label, users in a photo. For instance, if a photo contains a user's friend, then the user can tag the friend in the photo. This sends a notification to the friend that they have been tagged, and provides them a link to see the photo. To allay concerns about privacy, Facebook enables users to choose their own privacy settings and choose who can see specific parts of their profile. The website is free to users, and generates revenue from advertising, such as banner ads. Facebook requires a user's name and profile picture (if applicable) to be accessible by everyone. Users can control who sees other information they have shared, as well as who can find them in searches, through their privacy settings.
Also there is like button in facebook. The like button is a social networking feature, allowing users to express their appreciation of content such as status updates, comments, photos, and advertisements. It is also a social plug-in of the Facebook Platform – launched on April 21, 2010 – that enables participating Internet websites to display a similar like button.
When it comes to social aspect of Facebook, it has affected the social life and activity of people in various ways. With its availability on many mobile devices, Facebook allows users to continuously stay in touch with friends, relatives and other acquaintances wherever they are in the world, as long as there is access to the Internet. It can also unite people with common interests and/or beliefs through groups and other pages, and has been known to reunite lost family members and friends because of the widespread reach of its network. One such reunion was between John Watson and the daughter he had been seeking for 20 years. They met after Watson found her Facebook profile. Another father–daughter reunion was between Tony Macnauton and Frances Simpson, who had not seen each other for nearly 48 years.
I tried to explain the most popular social media nowadays in my article. Now you know facebook’s history, its facilities and advantages. At first when I read the history of it, I was shocked. I think that it is a very interesting story. I hope you like my article about Facebook.

                                        INSTAGRAM

If you're involved on social networks like Facebook or Twitter, you may have come across a photo or two that looks like it had a very elegant vintage filter applied to it. In fact, you may have come across more than just one or two considering the fact that Instagram is one of the most popular mobile photo apps to download.
If you own an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, Instagram could be a great tool to help uncover your inner photography skills.
Instagram: A Vintage Photography Smartphone App
Put simply, Instagram is a photo app that is available for free from the iTunes App Store and fromGoogle Play. If you own a Blackberry, a Windows Phone or anything other than a mobile Apple device or Android device, you won't be able to use Instagram. The app is currently only available for Apple and Android devices.
Creating an Account on Instagram
Before you can start using the app, Instagram will ask you to create a free account. All you need is a username and a password. The reason they require you to create an account is because Instagram is not just a photo app. It's also a popular social network.
Instagram as a Social Network
On Instagram, you can follow other users' photo streams as they post them and you can be followed back by those users (or other users) as well. Using the "Profile" icon located on the lower menu of the Instagram screen, you can search for friends by name or find friends that are already connected to you on other social networks like Facebook or Twitter.
When you decide to follow a user, that user's Instagram photos will appear in your feed, which can be found under the "Feed" icon on the lower menu. You can press "Like" on any photo to let someone know that you admire their photography, or you can leave a comment.
When you take photos using the Instagram app, they will always appear in the feeds of the users who are following you. You can browse through the "Explore" tab to find new users to follow and creative photos to look at.
Taking Photos and Applying Photo Filters
After downloading the app from the App Store and creating an account, you can open the app up and snap a picture through your camera, using either the back or front camera. There is a menu at the bottom of the screen, and you can snap a photo by pressing the camera icon in the middle of the menu, labeled "Share."
Once you select the green checkmark on your snapshot, you will be able to instantly transform the color, texture and overall look of your photo with just a touch of your finger. The available filters appear at the bottom of the screen.
You can apply each filter as a preview to see how each filter looks. Pressing the green checkmark will the set the chosen filter for your photo. You will then be taken to a screen where you can set up sharing on other social networks and where you can add a caption to the photo.
Sharing Your Instagram Photos on the Web
You can configure your Instagram account to have photos posted on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Flickr or sent by email. If these configurations are all set to "On," then all of your Instagram photos will automatically be posted to your social networks automatically after you press "Done."
Don't worry, Instagram will always take you to the social network configuration page after you snap each and every photo. If you don't want your photo shared on any particular social network, simply set the configuration to "Off."
Additionally, you can switch the "Add to your Photo Map" option to "On" if you want to tag the photo's location to your personal Instagram Photo Map. If you do, you can then select "Name this location" to attach a venue's name to the photo as well.
Keep in mind that Instagram users will still be able to view your photos in their feeds, if they follow you. You must delete your photos from Instagram if you don't want anybody to view them.

QUESTIONS ???
1)Which one of them do you use most in your daily life? Facebook, twitter or instagram?

2) Do you think these types of social medias are really useful for communication or not?
3) According to scientist, excessive usage of facebook, twitter and instagram make people asocial rather than social. Do you agree with them or not ? Why?

NEWS

         CONJUCTIONS
·                  The adjustments are contained in the Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Act, or as it has been nicknamed, the "Instagram Act", which was passed through Parliament last week.
·                    We haven't seen the final wording of the Act yet, but all details regarding what a diligent search requires will follow.
·                    Nevertheless, if a diligent search doesn't require much effort, publishers could be using users' images for promotional material on the basis of a simple Google search.
·                    "Even though it's now law, I'm working the basis of the most recent draft of the bill which was in February," Rendle said.

RELATIVE CLAUSES
·         We spoke with Adam Rendle, an associate lawyer at law firm Taylor Wessing, who explained what these changes mean to social media users.
·         It would either have to go to the person who has been authorised by the SOS to grant orphan works licenses
     NOUN CLAUSES
·                    Rendle made clear that, unlike what many media outlets are reporting, the change in the law doesn't automatically change the policies of social media websites such as Facebook or Instagram.
·                      to prove a work is "orphan", the would-be user has to show that the original copyright owner cannot be found by carrying out a "diligent search".
·                       We don't know exactly what a diligent search means yet, because the full final version of the Act hasn't been published.

                                EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AT WORK
In the simplest form, emotional intelligence (EI) is “the ability to perceive and express emotion, assimilate emotion in thought, understand and reason with emotionand regulate emotion in self and others”(Mayer, Salovey and Caruso, 2000).This term plays a big role in every part of people’s life. People always need emotional intelligence to develop their relationships, make their targets properly etc. This situtation is valid on work performance. Initially, emotional intelligent was not regarded as a important term for job satisfaction, but as technology and other things are developing, companies need people with higher emotional intelligence. Thanks to people with high EI,companies can avoid stereotype people and can be creative. Thus emotional intelligence has a important effect on work performance.

Some people thinks that emotional intelligent is not useful and they say there are other factors which affect job satisfaction. According to them age and experiences are very important. And if a company has a old worker who has a deep experiences in his/her field, it is regarded as strong and powerful. Or they think that sex, level of IQ and learning degree have an effect on job performance. Some say that  men are more effective at work than women or people with high IQ level is enough to run a company. However these ideas is not valid today’s world. Now companies are searching for people with high emotional intelligence.Age and experiences is still important but they do not work alone.A man or woman who is young and have high emotional intelligence can be as successful as a old and experienced man or woman if they are given chance to prove themselves. Or there is not a certain justice about men are better than women at work. Today nobody is superior to anybody. When it comes to IQ level,it is really important for person himself/herself and humanbeings. However, IQ level is more effective when it has a interaction with emotions,as the writer said that “ IQ gets you hired but EQ gets you promoted”(Gibbs,1995). In other words,IQ does not work effectively alone, too.
It is obvious that emotional intelligence is important for job satisfaction.First of all,it plays major role in atmosphere of workplaces. In terms of profitability, workers with high emotional intelligent know how to use it and are more creative thanks to emotional intelligence. When they infuse a product, they shape product what people demands, because they know what people want. They do not just keen on functions of product, also they give importance for aesthectic,so people is satisfied with new products. Apart from profitability,EI makes workplaces more friendly. Generally, workplaces are serious and gloomy places. Workers do not talk with one another very much, but people with emotional intelligence know how to act and make conservation with people. They can maintain cooperation, trust and even if something is wrong, they provide positive contribution.According to writer “ Emotional intelligence influences one’s ability to succeed in coping with environmental demands and pressures” (Bar-On 1997). With this way, people likes their job and go to work willingly. Actually, workplaces where people work  happily and friendly is more productive.  In other words, the more people feel comfortable at work, the more productivity there is. At this point emotional intelligence is important for both of them.

Secondly, people with high emotional intelligent have importance for companies. Today companies are searching for effective leader. One of the most important quality of effective leader is emotional intelligence. All we know that effective leaders are intelligent people, but the thing which a good leader distinguish from normal workers is their ability of using emotions together with intelligence to facilitate performance. People who manage to use both things are always precious for companies and companies future. And emotional intelligence encourage people to invest new things. They never stops, they are always in searching. This makes them effective leader. Also people with high emotional intelligence are more active in organizations. They have a confidence and reflect it to co-workers and audienes. This confidence makes audiences curious and cause enthusiasim and among the co-workers develop collective sense of goals. Thus, organizations people with high emotional intelligent participate in, are completed more effectively.
All in all, although some people thinks that emotional intelligence is not important so much it is obvious that emotional intelligence has an effect on work performance. It positively affects workplaces, workmates, condition of company. Also companies draw attention to stress that they are searching for people with emotional intelligence. Therefore,we shouldn’t ignore the importance of emotional intelligence.

                           HOW TO MAKE A GIRLFRIEND
In my previous writing, i mentioned about how women can make a boyfrind. Of course, being in a relationship is just not only special to women. There can be a type of man who needs a advice. In this writing i want to give tips to men to make a girlfriend.
1)    Be her hero. Whenever she is in trouble or worried about something, don't just sit there with her. Ask her how you can help, but don't insist that she let you. Be patient with anything she goes through and be supportive.
2)   Don't fly too deep into the friend zone. Be friendly with her without always being available. Girls love guys who are a bit mysterious, so try to cultivate a bit of mystery — don't always pick up the phone, let on where you're going, etc.
3)   Pay attention to how you look. Your guy-friends probably don't care than you walk around in the same clothes that you mow the lawn in, but the girl of your dreams probably won't be very impressed. Shower and shave every day. Wear clothes that actually fit. every guy needs a good pair of jeans, a fitting t-shirt, a simple but elegant collared shirt, and shoes to fit the occasion.
4)   Be charming:You must at least have some kind of charm to appeal to a woman. Most men are charming in a couple different ways. Be a gentleman. This means opening doors, paying for a date, keeping your word, etc. Girls love to feel like a gentleman cares about them.
Be witty. Girls love guys who are great conversationalists, who can turn anything into a joke. Learn how to elegantly make fun of yourself.

5)   Be reliable. Every girl wants a guy who, at the end of the day, is reliable — dependable not because he has to be, but because he wants to be. Being reliable is all about telling a girl that she has security with you. Try to be the most reliable guy you know.
6)   Try to be funny: This gives the girl a reason to relax. A person is more responsive and receptive when relaxed. It helps you connect with her emotionally/intellectually. She should enjoy your company and not be bored.
7)   Don't flirt with other girls too much. A girl might really like you but if she sees you dancing or talking with another girl, that could be a dealbreaker. Make sure she knows you're interested in only her.
8)   Compliment her. Give her some good old-fashioned compliments. Don't compliment her ability to do every little thing perfectly, or you'll seem too needy or obsessive yourself. But a well-placed compliment can make a girl remember you for days on end!
9)   Give her reasons to be reminded of you. Sing or hum songs, talk about movies, share favorite places. Anything that, when she hears/sees it again, will make her think of you.
10) Balance your sensitive side with your masculine side. Girls like guys who are in touch with their feminine side without being girly at all. That means you have to understand where she's coming from but still be thoroughly manly if you can.

SUPERSIZE ME: IT IS TIME TO STOP BLAMING FAT PEOPLE FOR         THEIR SIZE
In today’s world people have more tendency on gaining weight. In the essay writer stated that people are not guilty for it. According to writer said that health officels must be accused of it. I agree with the writer. Our food and beverages have more calories and their ingredients has some addiction affect. As people eat and drink them, they want much more. With this way, they have excessive calories more than their needs.  If the energy people take is much more than the energy they burn, it turns out obesity. Except genetic reasons, the reason of obesıty is health officels. They can be more cautious. They may be forbid ingredients causing addiction or they can make advertisement encouraging people to eat vegetables not fast food. Of course people must take some precautions. To prevent obesity they can be somethings that would be beneficial for them. These are
1)   Drink too much water
2)  At every turn, do sport
3)  Decrease thhe time you spend in front of PC and TV
4)  Chewing meals very well and eat slowly
5)  Eat in a arranged time and do not miss
6)  Do not drink sugary and gassy beverages
7)  Walk every day
To sum up, Health Officals must pay more attention and people take some precautions to prevent gaining weight.
